A Pig's Tale: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Mayor.
It might not have been at the identical stature as granting clemency to festive fowl, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava carried out the annual tradition at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. Her criminal record is spotless,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the beginning of a current administration.
“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”
The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to mirror the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.
The pig, contributed by a local firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The trend became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.
A Peaceful Retirement
The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“This swine clemency has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.
“It represents the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and based in heritage that foster togetherness. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
