FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host the Bilbao team in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, it will accommodate close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
