Supporters Demand Arrest of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the pop star are calling for that a man who jumped a barrier and touched the performer during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A widely shared footage reveals the Australian man shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors walked down a event pathway flanked by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account features clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a legal violation," commented an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Well-being
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while others called for online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Event Details
In footage shared widely, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it started.
The film, to be premiered on November 21, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the well-known Broadway and West End show Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two very different sorceresses.
The production itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of 2024 in the UK, and received 10 Oscar nominations, winning several for outstanding attire and production design.
