An National Colour Scheme and Iconic Emblem

The fresh livery uses a patriotic colour scheme to reflect the UK flag and will be used on locomotives, at terminals, and across its website and app.

Notably, the emblem is the well-known double-arrow logo historically used by the national rail network and previously introduced in the 1960s for the former state operator.

A Rollout Strategy

The introduction of the branding, which was developed internally, is scheduled to happen gradually.

Commuters are scheduled to start noticing the freshly-liveried services throughout the UK rail network from the coming spring.

Throughout December, the visuals will be showcased at major stations, such as Leeds City.

The Journey to Nationalisation

The Railways Bill, which will enable the formation of GBR, is currently progressing through the House of Commons.

The government has stated it is bringing back into public ownership the railways so the network is "owned by the public, delivering for the people, not for profit."

GBR will bring the running of passenger trains and tracks and signals under one umbrella body.

The department has claimed it will merge 17 different organisations and "reduce the frustrating administrative hurdles and lack of accountability that continues to plague the railways."

App-Based Services and Existing Public Control

The rollout of GBR will also involve a new app, which will let passengers to see schedules and book tickets absent booking fees.

Passengers with disabilities passengers will also be able to use the application to book assistance.

Multiple operators had previously been taken into public control under the former administration, such as Northern.

There are now seven train operators already in state ownership, accounting for about a third of passenger trips.

In the past year, Greater Anglia have been nationalised, with more likely to be added in 2026.

Official and Sector Comments

"The new design isn't just a paint job," commented the relevant minister. It symbolises "a transformed service, leaving behind the frustrations of the previous system and concentrated completely on providing a reliable passenger-focused service."

Industry figures have responded positively to the government's commitment to bettering services.

"The industry will carry on to collaborate with industry partners to ensure a smooth changeover to Great British Railways," a senior figure said.
